Question Types
RomaScript supports a comprehensive range of question types to meet all your research needs. Choose the right question type to collect accurate and meaningful data.
1. Single Choice
Allows respondents to select exactly one option from a list of choices. Ideal for questions with mutually exclusive answers.
Best used for
- Yes/No questions
- Demographic questions (gender, age group, etc.)
- Questions with only one correct or applicable answer
2. Multiple Choice
Enables respondents to select multiple options from a list. You can set minimum and maximum selection limits.
Best used for
- Product feature preferences
- Brand awareness (aided recall)
- Questions where multiple answers apply
3. Rating Scales
Allows respondents to rate items on a numerical scale. Commonly used for measuring attitudes, satisfaction, or agreement.
Best used for
- Customer satisfaction ratings
- Product quality assessments
- Importance or priority rankings
4. Likert Scale
Measures the degree of agreement or disagreement with statements. Typically uses a 5-point or 7-point scale.

5. Open-Ended Text Entry
Provides a text box for respondents to enter free-form responses. Can be single-line or multi-line.

6. Rank Order
Asks respondents to arrange items in order of preference, importance, or priority.

- Feature prioritization

7. Matrix Questions
Displays multiple questions or items in a grid format with shared response options. Available in three formats:
Matrix – Single Choice
Each row allows only one selection across columns.
Matrix – Multiple Choice
Each row allows multiple selections across columns.
Matrix – Text Entry
Each row has a text input field for open-ended responses.

8. Constant Sum
Requires respondents to allocate a fixed number of points across multiple options, showing relative importance or distribution.

9. SEC (Socio-Economic Classification)
A specialized question type for demographic profiling based on socio-economic status, commonly used in market research.
